Case Studies

"I developed Complex Regional Pain Syndrome / Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy in my right hand several years ago.

I have used mirror therapy for more than a year now. Prior to commencing the mirror box my hand was very painful and uncomfortable to move. I found doing any regular physiotherapy uncomfortable and painful.

The mirror box has allowed me to begin using my hand again. I have found that it allows me to do regular hand physiotherapy on my own. It also means that I can do the physio without anyone touching my hand.

My hand is much less swollen using the mirror therapy and I plan to continue using the mirror box regularly in the future."

"My father who is 66 suffered a sub arachnoid haemorrhage leaving him with a dense left arm weakness and inattention to the left side.

Following 3 sessions with a mirror box his inattention has noticeably improved and although he is functionally limited by dupytrens contracture his motor function has also improved. I have been encouraged with these early results and although he is limited by his lack of concentration we will continue to use the mirror box in short frequent bursts."

Mrs. C.W., Manchester

"My patient developed what appeared to be early stage CRPS in his right hand following shoulder surgery and a period of immobilization. As part of a comprehensive treatment protocol, he performed mirror box exercises for approximately 15 minutes, three days a week. It's my feeling that mirror box therapy had a significant impact on this patient's recovery."

M. Cole, PTA, Oregon

"I use the mirror box in combination with biofeedback to ensure that the patient is controlling the stress response during active range of movement. This is a good product, and if used in combination with relaxation strategies, can have dramatic results in improving active range of movement."

R Wurster, California
